Karen moved from Tempe, Arizona to Austin, Texas in 1977, and considers herself a naturalized Texan. Her editorial work appears in magazines, books and annual reports. She is also known for her informal style of creating exceptional portraits of people and animals, in unique environmental settings that truly reflect the personalities of her many subjects. Her strong sense of composition, design and use of color, generates outstanding landscape and architectural imagery. Her photojournalism background contributes a special style to remarkable wedding photography.

Karen shoots mostly digital now, and uses PhotoShop to enhance all of her photographs. “I do a lot of digital retouch work on people now. I can easily make my subjects look better, and I have more control over the final image than I ever had working with film alone.” |
